WHAT IS ILLEGAL WILDLIFE TRADING?

Illegal wildlife trading is the unlawful buying, selling, or exchange of wild animals, plants, or their parts and products. This trade often involves endangered species and is driven by demand for pets, traditional medicine, exotic food, and decorative items. It poses a major threat to biodiversity, harms ecosystems, and can contribute to the spread of diseases.

ENDANGERED SPECIES

Endangered species in illegal wildlife trading are animals or plants at risk of extinction due to being hunted or captured illegally. In the Philippines, examples include the Philippine eagle, pangolin, and pawikan (sea turtles).
